Mount Kenya University (MKU) is the premier private University in the region offering courses in Health Sciences recognized by government regulatory bodies and professional organizations. Our courses are tailored to respond to students’ professional ambitions in career development. The courses apply an innovative approach towards community health care needs which is consistent with the vision 2030 Economic Pillar.

In line with the University’s Vision and Mission, the courses in School of Health Sciences will arm students  with diagnostic, preventive, promotive and curative skills that will enable trainee play a vital the country’s health care structure. We as Mount Kenya University School of Health Sciences (SHS) are committed to providing high caliber education in Health Sciences  in order to equip the learners with the requisite skills, knowledge and attitudes critical for high quality delivery of health services in the community.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D)

  1. Ph.D in medical laboratory Sciences Option:
    Immunology, Hematology and blood transfusion, Microbiology, Virology, Molecular Biology, Histology &cytology, Parasitology & Entomology, Clinical Chemistry

Masters:

  1. Master of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences
    Option:Immunology, Hematology and blood transfusion, Microbiology, Virology, Molecular Biology, Histology & Cytology, Parasitology & Entomology, Clinical Chemistry (offered in collaboration with Institute of Primate Research)

Bachelor:

  1. Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences (BSc.MLS)
    (Approved by Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologist Board)

  2. Bachelor of Science in Dental Technology (Registered with Kenya Dental Technologists Association)

  3. Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics (Accredited by The Kenya Nutritionists and Dietitians’ Institute)

  1. Diploma in Community Oral Health
  2. Diploma in Dental Technology
  3. Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences
  4. Diploma in Bio-Medical Laboratory Sciences (DBMLS)
