Mount Kenya University won the “Most Popular Educational Institution” award during the Murang’a County agri-business trade fair. The event, which was organised by the Kenya Livestock Producers Association was held at Ihuura Stadium, Murang’a County between August 28th and 29.
Dr Dominic Mureithi, Head of Department, Animal Health, said the award evidenced the success of the university’s agriculture-related academic programmes and more importantly, the impact of former students in transforming Kenya’s agricultural sector.“Our graduates continue to contribute immensely in agricultural growth in this country,” said Dr Mureithi.
The theme of the event was “farming is big business” and the opening ceremony was presided over by Murang’a County governor H.E Mwangi Wa Iria. It was sponsored by Mount Kenya University, Airtel, UAP insurance, Unga Farm Care ltd and ACK Diocese of Mount Kenya Central, amongst others.
