Mr. Gitau Thabanja, the Assistant Registrar in-charge of Marketing addressing participants at the conference.Mount Kenya University was the key sponsor of the Ladies Conference, 2014, which was held last weekend at Chania Boys High School, Thika. The regional conference which attracted participants from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania was themed “Woman of a new identity.” It explored ways in which women can break the glass ceiling and excel in their personal and professional endeavours.
Gitau Thabanja, the Assistant Registrar in-charge of Marketing at MKU said education is the only weapon women can use to emancipate themselves from the existing gender disparity. “It’s a cultural and social norm that women are often disadvantaged. But with a good education, women have proven that they can excel beyond their male counterparts.”
The event was hosted by Rev. Susan Muturi from Ripe Word Ministries. MKU donated Ksh50,000 towards the event.
