It envisions positioning itself as the world’s leader in realizing and exploiting to the fullest the potential in creative expression through talent development and exposure.

Mission

To provide an avenue for the identification, development and exposition of talents in Film, Theatre Arts, Music and Dance towards a creatively expressive and productive nation.

Vision

To be the world’s leader in realizing and exploiting to the fullest the potential in creative expression through talent development and exposure.

Rationale

Drama, dance and music are universal languages that cross all cultural barriers and compliment the mission to develop an all rounded society. These are further showcased through film in an attempt to reach out the whole world, thanks to technology.

In pursuit of these cultural elements in their capacity as unions of intellect and emotion, Mount Kenya University has a responsibility to contribute to nation building by empowering the youth. It is on this premise that an Institute of Film, Creative and Performing Arts was established.

The Institute is cognizant of the need to prepare students for a dynamic, self-sustaining film, theatre and music industry that will employ thousands of Kenyan creative and performing artists.

Overall objective of the Institute

To promote exploitation of talent through film, creative and performing arts for socio-economic development.

The Institute is set to establish a Film and creative arts enterprise to harness the vast opportunities within the African market and beyond. The enterprise will specialize in generation of TV/online content, documentaries, event and promotional films.
