Speaking during a visit to the institution’s Main Campus in Thika, Mr Quarcoo said MKU has an influence not only in Kenya but also in the African continent. “We are proud to be associated with this exemplary institution,” said Mr Quarcoo whose company has several media outlets in its stable. “The infrastructural and academic investment is remarkable.”

Radio Africa Group owns The Star newspaper, Kiss TV, Classic FM, Radio Jambo, Kiss FM and XFM. Mr Quarcoo who was accompanied by The Star Editor Charles Kerich and Charles Chege, the Business Manager amongst other officials toured the General Kago Rd Anatomy Lab, students’ study villas, the Chancellor’s Tower, multimedia and science laboratories before paying a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor Prof Stanley Waudo. “MKU is a progressive university and we want to continue working with media houses,” said Prof. Waudo. He called on the Nairobi-based media group to encompass the highly trained students from the MKU Department of Journalism in its internship programme as a way of giving them industrial exposure. “Ideally, journalism students should go for internship every year for a duration of two months in the course of their study,” said Mr Quarcoo.

At the same time, Mr Quarcoo said that besides industrial attachment, Radio Africa Group is eager to partner with MKU in other areas notably research, digitization of education and marketing.
