Bachelor of Science in Enviromental Science

Course Rationale
The  curriculum  of  Bachelor  of  Science  in  Environmental Science is  designed to meet the challenges and demands affecting  labour market as dictated by both local and international demands.   It is also designed to combat shortage of professionally trained environmentalist in this country, Africa region and the world at large.

Why Study The Programme
The programme shall  provide Bachelor of Science in Environmental science graduates with real world situations full of various techniques of teaching, knowledge, skills, attitudes, and experiences that prepare them to meet challenges in the fields of teaching and learning process.

Programme Objectives

  1. To understand   the   intricate   linkages   within   and   between   biophysical   and socioeconomic  systems,  and  appreciate  the  principles  and  requirements  that would facilitate the transition to sustainability within these systems;
  2. To apply theoretical understanding, professional judgment and skills in mitigation of environmental problems;
  3. To    formulate and implement solutions to problems of sustainable development, through the use of analytical skill and theoretical knowledge
  4. To Make  meaningful  contributions  to  improving  legal  and  administrative  structures  and processes relevant to sustainable development and environmental management

Entry Requirements
i) KCSE certificate with a minimum mean grade of C+ and grade C+ (plus) in Geography and C plain in Chemistry, Mathematics and/or physics subjects
ii) KACE certificate with a minimum of two principal passes in subjects and O level Credit in Biology/Chemistry
iii) Diploma in relevant disciplines from an institution of higher learning recognized by the University Senate.
An equivalent qualification recognized by the university Senate

Exemptions  and Credit Transfer
Credit transfers and exemption are possible depending on the qualification of the applicant. The applicant must have attained the pass mark in the subject to be considered for credit transfer/ exemption from an institution recognized by the Senate which shall from time to time determine the maximum no of credit transfers that can be awarded.
