ICB Rwanda Chapter Launched
The Institute of Capacity Building (ICB), Rwanda Chapter has been launched. Hon Isaac Melly, Senator, Uasin Gishu County, was the chief guest in the event that also saw the unveiling of the MKU Royal FM, Mount Kenya University’s first radio station. Hon Melly is an alumnus of MKU.
The event was held at Expo Grounds in Kigali Rwanda, and attended by MKU founder and Board of Trustees Chairman Simon Gicharu, CBS, Slovakian Ambassador to Kenya and Rwanda Dr. Michal Mlynar and Prof Shyaka Anastase, Chief Executive Officer, Rwanda Governance Board. Dr Jane Njuru, the Director of ICB said the institute will provide practical skills for high level managers in both the private and public sectors of Rwanda. “This will help the country achieve its development blue print, the Vision 2020.”
Prof Anastase, while welcoming the new ICB office to Rwanda said, “Rwanda is at the cusp of an economic revolution. Every sector of our lives is undergoing a transformation that’s calling for a rapidly changing skills set.”
Last year, ICB sponsored the Kenyan parliamentary committee on education on a trip to Rwanda to learn about the country’s successful One Laptop Per Child project. The institute has already conducted training among members of staff at Tigo, one of the mobile telephony providers in Rwanda. ICB Rwanda is headed by Mr Jack Hodari.
