Dr. Vincent Gaitho, Pro-Chancellor and Vice-Chair of the University Council, visited Mount Kenya University Meru campus on May 25, 2023, concluding his tour across all campuses and ODEL Centers of MKU with a final flare and flourish.

By recognizing their importance in the greater narrative of Mount Kenya University, the staff members were challenged to channel their talents, passion, and dedication towards the growth and quality service delivery of the campus.

Amidst this transformative atmosphere, the campus management expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Dr. Gaitho for his visionary leadership and unwavering support. The Board’s multi-million investments in the campus, including the ongoing development of a state-of-the-art general science laboratory to bolster science-related courses, the recently equipped computer laboratory, and the modernized campus library boasting cutting-edge knowledge resources in physical and electronic formats, were hailed as milestones in the pursuit of academic excellence by the campus Director Madam Karen Mungania. Through these advancements, the Meru campus would continue to nurture the minds of the future, equipping them with the tools and resources needed to thrive in an ever-evolving world.

Embracing his role as a visionary leader, Dr. Gaitho delivered an unwavering message that resounded deeply with every individual present: the call to nurture the campus’s growth, particularly through increased student enrollment. To further illustrate the significance of each person’s contribution, Dr. Gaitho shared an inspiring story about a cleaner working for NASA. When asked about his work, the cleaner responded with unwavering pride, stating that through his cleaning duties, he was contributing to sending a man to the moon. This anecdote served as a powerful reminder that every task, no matter how seemingly insignificant, holds the potential to make a profound impact.

Dr. Gaitho parting words echoed with a sense of encouragement and determination: “Remember, greatness lies not only in what we do but in how we perceive our work. Embrace your roles as educators, administrators, and guides. Together, let us unlock the limitless potential within our campus and empower the minds of our students to shape a brighter future.”
