The duration varies depending on the specific Bachelor’s programme. and the university’s academic calendar. At MKU, we strictly comply with the guidelines of the Commission for University Education (CUE) and all other regulators.

We operate a trimester system, offering 3 semesters per calendar year with no long holiday. Each semester is 14 to 16 weeks (4 months). This enables students to complete the 8 semesters (the 4 calendar years as guided by the CUE) in about 3 years, including the mandatory 1 semester of attachment or teaching practice where applicable.

To enable continuous learning the University has put in place a flexible fee payment policy which allows students to register for free for the semester during the first one month and pay the fee in installments spread across the semester. Students can however apply for an academic leave whenever they wish to.

This structure is compliant with CUE and meets the contact hours and curriculum requirements.

Students progressing from diploma level to degree may qualify for credit transfers, subject to:

  1. Curriculum compatibility,
  2. Performance in relevant units.

We accept diploma from Institutions recognized by senate and CUE.

At MKU, students typically can be awarded a maximum of 10 units as credit transfers (equivalent to about 2 semesters). This can shorten the study period and hence some attain the degree within 2 and a half years.

MKU alumni progressing to their next level of study enjoy a 100% application fee waiver. Plus, students advancing to postgraduate programmes receive up to 10% tuition waiver — your journey to greater heights just got more affordable.

Institutions allow credit transfer since some diploma curricula form the basis for the degree and most diplomas take an average of 5 to 6 trimesters, and some take 8 to 9 trimesters.
