
Mount Kenya University successfully welcomed its new cohort of Distance Institution-Based Electronic Learning (DIBEL) students during a well-organized orientation held on 7th April, 2026. The orientation marked an important step in integrating new learners into the university community while equipping them with essential knowledge and tools for their academic journey.
The orientation program was designed to familiarize students with MKU’s digital learning environment, academic expectations and available support services.
Speaking during the session, Principal Students Welfare, Mr. Peter Waweru, emphasized that the university remains committed to delivering quality, flexible, and accessible education. Students were encouraged to stay focused, manage their time effectively, and actively engage in their studies to achieve academic excellence.

He also highlighted the importance of student well-being and urged learners to take advantage of the university’s support systems, including counseling services, academic advising, and peer engagement platforms. He reassured students that the university remains committed to supporting them throughout their academic journey.
Adding to the remarks, the Deputy Academic Registrar, Mr. Daniel Chelule, guided students on academic procedures and requirements. He emphasized the importance of adhering to registration timelines and maintaining academic integrity. He also encouraged students to familiarize themselves with examination guidelines and utilize the available academic support services to enhance their performance.

University technical support teams guided students in using the e-learning platform, highlighting how to access course materials, participate in online discussions, submit assignments, and interact with lecturers.
Through the introduction of the UniRP system, MKU continues to strengthen its digital education infrastructure to better meet the evolving needs of modern learners. The system enhances efficiency in academic processes and access to student services, reinforcing the university’s commitment to providing an inclusive, accessible, and supportive learning environment for all.
