Mount Kenya University Donates Computers to Kaharo Girls High School
As part of its ongoing commitment to uplifting communities and transforming lives, Mount Kenya University has donated 10 computers to Kaharo Girls High School in Murang’a County.
Located in Murang’a South Sub-county, Nginda Ward, the school is the only county girls’ school in the area, serving approximately 850 students—many from humble backgrounds with limited access to digital resources. This donation therefore represents more than just equipment; it is a gateway to opportunity and a bridge to a more promising future.
The initiative was championed by a Mount Kenya University alumnus who now serves as the school’s principal. Inspired by his journey and connection to the institution, he sought to give back by enhancing digital access for the students.
With the increasing importance of digital literacy, the computers will help equip learners with essential ICT skills, improve their readiness for technology-driven careers, and support the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum.
While handing over the computers, the University’s Director of Communication and Corporate Affairs, Mr. Boniface Murigi, emphasized that the impact of the donation extends beyond academics. He noted that access to technology empowers students to believe in their potential, compete confidently in a digital world, and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
Through such initiatives, Mount Kenya University continues to reaffirm its dedication to empowering learners and driving positive change in society.
