
The School of Social Sciences Clubs Consortium (SSSCC) successfully held its 2nd Capacity and Team Building Event on Saturday, 7th June 2025, at the MKU Graduation Pavilion Grounds. The event was held under the theme, “The Power of Teamwork and Collective Responsibility.”
The SSSCC brings together 13 active clubs under the School of Social Sciences. This year’s event brought together approximately 150 students and staff representing the following clubs:
- Young Criminologists Network
- Ladies League
- Counselling Psychology Students Association
- Hope in Action Social Work Club
- SDGs – MKU Chapter
- UCESCO Africa – MKU Chapter
- Africa Youth Leadership Forum – MKU Chapter
- International Relations and Diplomacy Club
- Ethical Leadership and Governance Club
- Justice and Peace Network
- Journalism and Mass Communication Club
- SSSCC Emeritus Leaders Community
- SSS Class Reps Network
Also present were members of the newly formed MKU Beyond Barriers Initiative, a club dedicated to fostering inclusion and empowering differently abled students. The club is led by its Founding President, Ms. Mary Simprose, who also serves as the MKU Sign Language Interpreter.
The event was graced by the presence of the founding Patron, Mr. Waswa A. Wakwabubi, along with several alumni from the MKU SSSCC Emeritus Leaders Community.
The day featured a vibrant mix of activities including team building exercises, interactive games, music and dance sessions, as well as a communal cooking and dining experience. These activities were facilitated by emerging team building experts from sister clubs such as Taifa Teule Leadership Experience, Mentor Me, and the MKU Teachers Association.
The MKU SSSCC Capacity and Team Building Event has now become a highly anticipated annual tradition. It serves as a platform to sensitize and prepare young leaders for a collaborative future, aligned with the consortium’s guiding slogan:
“Informing, Forming, Innovating, and Transforming for a Better Future.”
