Mount Kenya University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Junge Zukunft gGmbH, a Berlin-based organisation in Germany, to strengthen international collaboration, promote ethical recruitment practices, and create structured professional pathways for eligible MKU students and graduates.

The MoU was signed on 26 October 2026 at the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, MKU Main Campus in Thika, by the MKU Vice-Chancellor and René Pernull and Kadir Kaan, Founders and Managing Directors of Junge Zukunft gGmbH.

The partnership seeks to facilitate ethical, transparent, and structured pathways for qualified MKU students and graduates (alumni) Bachelor of Social work  & administration, Early Childhood Development, Nursing, and Special Needs Education to access professional opportunities in Germany. The program is guided by a rigorous recruitment and selection process coordinated through the MKU Office of Career Services and Junge Zukunft gGmbH team, ensuring that candidates meet the agreed academic and professional requirements.

As part of the preparation for international placement, selected and eligible candidates will receive support in acquiring proficiency in the German language at the B2 level. This training will be facilitated by the MKU Centre for Professional Development, equipping participants with the necessary language skills to pursue professional opportunities in Germany.

The MoU will remain in force for five years, with recruitment exercises conducted twice annually. This structured approach is expected to provide eligible students and graduates with regular opportunities to explore international career pathways while ensuring that recruitment processes are transparent, responsible, and aligned with the partners’ shared objectives.

The partnership marks an important milestone in MKU’s commitment to expanding international collaborations, enhancing graduate employability, and connecting its graduates to global career opportunities. Through this collaboration, MKU and Junge Zukunft gGmbH look forward to fostering sustainable partnerships that benefit students, alumni, and the broader professional communities in Kenya and Germany.
